So Moon Geun-Young just went from Annoying as Hell to Over-Exposed, but Cool Nonetheless

So Moon Geun-Yeong, the Korean pop-star whom I have lampooned before (I even feel a bit bad about that now), just went from "really, really annoying" to "over-exposed, but kinda cool" when news came out that she was the donor sending large amounts of money to Community Chest Korea, a charitable organization. . . anonymously. Not with a shining light on her back saying, "Look! I'm a good person! Buy my merchandise! Pay no attention to the rumors that I throw furniture if restaurants don't serve me quickly enough!" A. No. Ny. Mous. Ly. God bless her bright, squirrelly eyes, even as they stare at me from the side of every fifth bus in Seoul.

Hopefully, this kind of celebrity leadership leads to copycatting behaviour from Korea's youth, rather than some other recent celebrity trends.

A mini-retrospective on her cutest/most annoying TV spots:

selling pizza with crab on it...

my personal favorite...

And finally, encouraging soccer fans to move around a bit during the 2006 World Cup...

Respect, ms. Moon.

Not so anonymous now ... is she... huh? Kinda makes you wonder who "accidentally" let that piece of news slip!

actually, if you read the article, it took a fair bit of legwork, sniffing and tracking, before Ms. moon finally admitted yes, it was her, in the face of mounting evidence that had been collected by reporters and such.

Speaking of annoying commercials...do you happen to know who that girl is in the Lucidol (?) commercial? She's standing on top of a giant pot of hair mousse, screeching in various ways and mussing her hair. That commercial drives me crazier, and I think I might need to hunt that woman down and duct-tape her mouth.

this ad? it says the model is Kimura Kaela.

Wow. I saw that for the first time... makes me glad I don't have a TV.

You feel bad about lampooning her? Nothing kills the lulz faster than Troll's Remorse(TM).

1. Lampooning and trolling are totally different things.
2. Troll's remorse is actually entertaining to me, because I'm not a troll, and kind of hate them: say, when the site master lets the troll know that he/she has contacted the company whose IP address is the source of the trolling comments, and lets them know someone has been using their company computers to send out trolling comments during work hours, and suddenly the troll stops saying things like "You're a fucking tard-maggot" and starts saying things like "Please delete my comments. Please. I beg you." -- that's high comedy to me.
