Yeah, there are a lot of different issues Korea's working on these days.
Many of you expats may have noticed the Chosun Ilbo just hired a member of Anti-English spectrum as an intern...
but here's one issue that doesn't get much airtime, but if you start noticing it, it's an absofreakinglute outrage.
Nobody's really talking about this one. And Girlfriendoseyo's mom comes from a different city in Korea, and reports that overpackaging is not NEARLY as egregious there as it is here... but overpackaging here can be pretty extreme sometimes.
That's all for today.
Be happy, my readers.

I whole-heartedly agree. You know, for a country that is so waste conscious about some things like household waste and restaurant waste... how can they let companies be so irresponsible with their packaging. Korea is too small of a country to be producing that much unnecessary trash. And of course they had to use plastic wrapping so that it won't ever decompose... not that we're so much better in the west...
I used to buy Korean oreos all the time until I finally got fed up with the fact that EACH COOKIE is individually wrapped. It is such a ridiculous waste of resources!
such waste of money & time bad for the environment
btw 2 stars not fit for that video
I don't quite get this Korean obsession with small packages either (although that would explain why there are no asian males in American porns, wink wink).
When I see ridiculous products like that, I make sure to write to the manufacturer and give them a piece of my mind.
Is Miss Choi an actual member of Anti-ES, or just a speculative shot at her? (serious question)
Does the Anti-ES website have a list of their members somewhere?
unfortunately that was just speculation masked under an attempt at humor...but it sure wouldn't surprise me.
Wouldn't surprise me, either, which is why I wondered if A-ES had a members list somewhere. The Korean real-name law would come in pretty handy if such a list of userids were available somewhere.
Kudos for the Modest Mouse. It's always nice to hear.
I wonder if all that packaging just masks the fact that there is so little actual product hidden away. People feel better about paying as much as they do for the tiny bit of chocolate if it is individually wrapped.
By the way, with all those different types of chocolate in one box--could you actually taste any difference, or was it just marketing?
I'm with you on this one! have a look at the new 'Market O' and 'Mother's Fingers' products. There is so much packaging in these products to disguise the fact that you are buying a teensy tiny amount of snackage.
Some companies are way behind the curve in that respect and I hope this changes...
I just started reading your blog tonight and i think this one is perfect. Seriously, Korea, get a clue. We don't want to buy wrappers! We want the chocolate!
p.s. i love your other blogs too, i'm just too lazy to comment if it isn't about chocolate ;)
